Sony at E3 2009 PSP GO PS3

Sony presented its keynote at E3. PSP Go is the big announcement. Here is the summaries:

  • 364 games coming to the PlayStation platforms (PS3+PS2+PSP) this year. 22 million PS3 sold last year. 24 million registered accounts on PlayStation Network in 55 countries.

  • Uncharted 2 and 256-player MAG for PS3 are demoed.

  • Sony unveiled PSP Go, the second-generation PSP. Spec and look is the same as what has been leaked. 40% lighter than the original PSP-1000. 16G Internal Flash, built-in Wi-Fi, integrated Bluetooth, sliding control pad and M2 memory port.

  • PSP Go will go on sale in North America on Oct 1 for $249, the same price as the original PSP when launched. It will not replace PSP-3000 or UMD, which will co-exist.

  • All PSP games going forward will be digitally distributed via the PlayStation Network and its PlayStation Store. But also delivered to retail via UMD.

  • A new application called Media Go will be the interface to PlayStation Store on Windows PC, allow you to make purchase and transfer digital content to your PSP via PC.

  • You can now download videos from the PlayStation Store onto the PSP. Before, only games are allowed.

  • A new application called Sense Me on the PSP will select music playlist matching your mood, based on a 12-tone audio recognition system. Coming this fall.

  • PSP toolkits for developers will be reduced 80% in price.

  • Father of Gran Turismo, Kazunouri Yamauchi, presented Gran Turismo for PSP. Gran Turismo for PSP contains 800 cars, 35 tracks and runs at 60fps.

  • Hideo Kojima, the same guy who was on XBox stage yesterday, announced Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP. This is a sequel to Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops on the PSP.

  • Resident Evil is coming to PSP and there will be a Hannah Montana PSP bundle.

  • Sony is adding more than 50 PlayStation One classics to the PlayStation Store this year including Final Fantasy VII.

  • Assassin’s Creed 2 will be available for PS3 and PSP. Rockstar North will have an exclusive to PS3 called Agent.

  • Sony showed off footage from Final Fantasy XIII and announced Final Fantasy XIV! And PlayStation 3 will be the only console when XIV launches in 2010.

  • Sony explained and demoed its motion controller which is still an engineering prototype. The controller is slated to launch spring 2010.

  • LittleBigPlanet has over 900,000 user created levels played over 2 million times. Disney Interactive Studios joined LittleBigPlanet, you can now purchase The Incredibles or Jack Sparrow costumes.

  • Sony demoed the PS3 exclusive ModNation Racers, a kart racer game allows you to “Play. Create. Share” as with LittleBigPlanet. The game will be released in 2010.

  • Sony gave a sneak peak at another PS3 exclusive, Fumito Ueda’s The Last Guardian. Gran Turismo 5 promo video is played and off course God of War III demo. God of War III is coming to PS3 in March 2010.
