Jonathan Ive In Objectified
July 30th, 2008
Jonathan Ive, the British-born designer who’s the Senior VP of Industrial Design at Apple, will be one of the subject in Gary Hustwit’s “Objectified”, a new documentary about industrial design. Jonathan Ive is the other Apple guy we like, if you’ve not already aware, he is the award-winning ‘it’ designer behind many Apple products such as the iMac, the iPod, and the iPhone.
“Objectified” is Gary Hustwit’s second documentary, after the critically acclaimed “Helvetica” debut, which is a documentary about typography and graphic design. So what is “Objectified” about?
It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability. It’s about our relationship to mass-produced objects and, by extension, the people who design them.
“Objectified” is set to premiere in early 2009, it is definitely something worth looking forward to. Visit Objectified movie website.
