Twitter has started rolling out its new website which has a two pane view. Check it out!

Twitter now has a native interface for iPad. It looks different and has some touch gesture for interacting with tweets:

• Pinch on a tweet to quickly unfold related information and actions.
• Use two fingers to drag on tweet and reveal replies

It take sometimes to get used to the interface. Try it out to see if this will be your default Twitter client on your iPad.

All hail the new queen of Twitter! Lady Gaga has toppled Britney Spears to be number one on Twitter with the most followers, with more than 5,769,000 followers and counting. Check out the top 100 Twitter users based on followers from Twitaholic.com.

It looks like someone managed to bypass Twitter’s 140 characters message limit using what appears to be a bug in Twitter’s new t.co shortening service. Check it out before Twitter take it down.

Twitter has launched the so called promoted tweets on its trending topics. The first sponsor is DisneyPixar promoting Toy Story 3 (Seriously, a guaranteed blockbuster does not need to be promoted this hard). When you view the list of trending topics on Twitter, you will see “Toy Story 3″ with a “Promoted” label beside. Click on this trending topic will bring you to the search page for all tweets with “Toy Story 3″, with the first tweet being the promoted tweet by DisneyPixar.

Twitter has been experiencing multiple and massive failures for the past week, there is even an explanation of the problems from their engineering team.

If you still encounter the failed whale, you might as well switch to a better failed whale for some entertainment while you wait for the service to be restored. Over at Subcide, they developed an animated failed whale which is awesome consider it is made using just plan CSS codes.

Britney Spears has a new number one again. This time it is being the queen with the most Twitter followers, surpassing longtime holder Ashton Kutcher. Both are close to approaching 5 million followers.

When you look at the best Twitter clients not from Twitter Inc, the choices are often TweetDeck and Seesmic. And it sure took a while for us to see Seesmic finally made it to iPhone/iPod touch, and the wait is worthwhile. Seesmic is not just a Twitter client, you can use it to manage your Facebook accounts and it has ping.fm integration. And lets hope Google Buzz support, which is available for Seesmic Desktop version, comes to Seesmic iPhone soon.

Tweetie on the iPhone and Mac OS X is one of our favorite Twitter client, the iPhone version is available on the App Store for US$2.99. Many has considered it the best Twitter client yet. But Tweetie will soon no longer be available. Well, Twitter the company has purchased the Tweetie app, and will soon renamed it simply as Twitter for iPhone. And the good news is it will be free.

Twitter has released official client for Blackberry beginning of April and the official Twitter app for Android is released on 30 April. So expect the rebranded Tweetie within days if not sooner.
