Apple introduced Mac Pro Server option starting at $3,000


Shortly after announcing it is axing the rack-mountable Xserve server come January 31, 2011, Apple introduced a server option for its Mac Pro lineup. This is the second Mac that has the server option after Apple introduced Mac Mini Server in late 2009.

Mac Pro has long been the powerhouse workstation of choice, the server option starting at $2,999 is equipped with a single 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon “Nehalem” processor, 8G of DDR3 ECC SDRAM, a pair of 1TB (7200RPM) hard drive, ATI Radeon HD 5770 with 1GB of GDDR5 memory, and a copy of Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server with unlimited client license.
