Introducing LibreOffice

The first stable release of LibreOffice is now available for download. What is LibreOffice? LibreOffice is a fork by the Document Foundation community of OpenOffice, the freely open source MS Office alternative. The Document Foundation consists of former OpenOffice contributors before Oracle purchased the OpenOffice owner Sun. Obviously they are not happy about the handling of OpenOffice by Oracle.

This is the first release of LibreOffice, whose contributors have grown from less than twenty in September 2010 to well over one hundred. We have tried out the new release and have to say we prefer it than OpenOffice and NeoOffice, the other OpenOffice fork.
