What to expect from Apple’s media event on October 22

According to AllThingsD, Apple will hold its iPad centric invitation-only event on October 22. This gathering would probably be Apple’s last media event for the year.

Apple is expected to release its fifth generation iPad with a thinner bezel design similar to iPad mini. The new iPad is expected to use a GPU improved version of 64 bit A7X processor and sports an improved camera. There is no part leaks to indicate that Apple will incorporate finger print sensor Touch ID in the fifth generation iPad. Apple is likely to discontinue iPad 2, and will reposition current generation iPad as the low cost alternative.

Beside the flagship 9.7 inch fifth-generation iPad, there has been rumour that Apple is preparing to release a 12.9 inch iPad. We expect this larger iPad to be released in 2014.

Apple is likely to update iPad mini with a retina display, better processor and camera. Apple will keep current generation non-retina iPad mini as the lower cost option.

Apple has seeded a GM build of OS X Mavericks to its developers 3 days ago, and a final release to the public is expected on October 22, the same day as the media event.

The long-awaited newly-designed Mac Pro will debut in this media event. Most people are keen to know about the pricing of this high end Mac model. We also expect Apple to release a newly designed Thunderbolt Display to match the new Mac Pro.

MacBook Air and iMac has already been updated to the latest Intel Haswell processor. Apple looks certain to refresh its remaining MacBook Pro and Mac mini with Haswell processor.
