Use Apple headphones to remotely snap photos

Apple headphones such as the EarPods comes with built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord. You might not realise the volume controls on Apple headphones can be used to remotely control the camera shutter.

The way it works is similar to how you can use the volume + button on the side of the iPhone to snap a photo. Simply bring up the camera app, and press the volume + button on the headphones remote to take the photo.

The remote on the Apple headphones is over 2 feet from the plug, and is useful as a remote shuttle release. You’ll never have to worry about shaky hand spoiling the shot. Just place your phone on a steady surface and snap using the remote on the headphones.

We have not tested this trick using non-Apple headphones, which probably might work if it is labelled compatible with Apple headphone remote.
