Not to be outdone by Netflix, Amazon is boosting its exclusive shows and original content on its video-on-demand Instant Video service. As part of its deal with Fox, Amazon landed an exclusive streaming to the acclaimed FX spy thriller ‘The Americans’ for its Prime subscription members. Season one of ’The Americans’ is available immediately, with upcoming season 2 premiered on February 26. In addition, Instant Video will carry other Fox produced shows such as ‘How I Met Your Mother’, ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philedelphia’, ‘Louie’, ’The League’ and ‘Archer’.
Amazon Prime is a subscription membership program at $80 per year which gives you unlimited access to all movies and TV in Prime Instant Video, and you get free two-day shipping on products sold by Amazon and one free Kindle book per month from Amazon Lending Library.
For original content, Amazon Instant Video has premiered five new kids and five new comedy/drama pilots. All Amazon users can watch the ten pilots for free and vote on the ones they like. Amazon will decide which series get full season pick-ups based on popularity.
