Sony is redefining a new category of camera with the introduction of its QX series of “Lens-Style” camera. Sony QX10/QX100 is essentially a “complete” CMOS sensor cameras that comes with a low-light capable quality lens, slot for memory card and run on its own battery. The camera is lens shaped and is operated using a Sony PlayMemories app on iOS or Android device. The camera connects to iPhone via its own build-in Wi-Fi and the PlayMemories app turns your smartphone into the camera’s view screen.
Sony QX10 is an entry level model with a 18.2-megapixel Exmor R back-illuminated sensor and 10x optical zoom. QX10 is currently selling at a discount at $198. Sony QX100 comes with a 1” 20.2-megapixel Exmor R back-illuminated sensor that you normally find in high-end compact. QX100 also featured a high-end fast F1.8 Carl Zeiss lens with 3.6x zoom. QX100 costs $499. Both cameras come with a black or white colour option.
