Getty Images is the largest stock photo agency in the world, which primarily targets the advertising, media and corporate markets. It boost over 150 million images that charges license fee for their use. Getty has unveiled a new offering called “Embed Images”, which allows you to embed free of charge Getty images on your website, blog and social sites.
The free images are from a selection of more than 35 million photos, there is no watermark and are low-resolution copy. Embedding is strictly limited to non-commercial use. A commercial use means using the image to promote a service, a product or a business.
To get started, search Getty for images to embed. On the search result, mouse over the image that you want. On the image detail pop up, click on the embed icon (</>) below the image.
In the embed window, select the HTML embed code and copy to clipboard using Command+C. Paste the code into the source code of the page you want the image to display.
The result will look like this:
Note that the embedded image is properly attributed and there is a backlink to Getty Images site. This new feature from Getty is big news to blogger and content creator as there are many good quality images in Getty’s libraries. Certainly some will not like the big Getty branding below the photo, but it is better than not free.
