Universal Studios has [announced](http://news.prnewswire.com/ViewContent.aspx?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/07-20-2009/0005062513) the Fast & Furious iPhone app that can be used to control the bonus feature content of Fast & Furious movie Blu-ray disc. The iPhone and iPod touch app will launch on App Store on July 28 as free download, coincide with the release of the 2-Disc Special Edition Blu-ray of the blockbuster Fast & Furious.
The is a ground breaking move from Universal Studios by integrating the two platforms for more enhance home entertainment experience. For this feature to work, your Blu-ray player needs to be BD-Live capable and is connected to the Internet. Playstation 3 and newer Blu-ray players are BD-Live ready.

People normally do not upgrade their Mac or MacBook every year, unless you are the fortunate one who can afford so. A three year-old Mac is still very much usable for common day-to-day tasks due to an efficient Mac OS X, upgrade is inevitable eventually.
Some people hold on to their Mac purchase, mostly convinced by Apple rumor mill that a new Mac release is imminent. For us, anytime is a good time to buy a Mac since you can not always catch up with technologies. But it is always wise to look after your pocket by looking a bit farther on the horizon and plan the schedule for your purchase.
We look at few technologies that are likely to make it into Macs and MacBook by end of this year or in 2010.
### USB 3
At 10 times the bandwidth of the current ubiquitous USB2.0, the third iteration is poised to appear in consumer products in 2010. With a speed of roughly 5Gbps, USB 3 may well spell the death nail for Firewire as one of standard ports in Macs.
### SATA 3
SATA3 spec is [officially completed and released 2 days ago](http://www.sata-io.org/documents/SATA-Revision-3.0-Press-Release-FINAL-052609.pdf) by the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO). The new spec boost the transfer speed to 6 Gbps and is backward compatible with existing SATA devices.
SATA 3 is a natural upgrade to be the next standard in hard disk interface. SATA3 hard disk is expected to be widely available by end of this year. Apple might lead the industry to be the first to adopt this as standard in Macs.

LG announced that its BD300 Network Blu-ray Player will be available in September. Announced earlier this year in January in a partnership with Netflix, this is the first Blu-ray player that allows Netflix members to stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix’s library of more than 12,000 titles directly to the TV.
LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc Player will play high-definition Blu-ray discs, up-convert standard DVDs to 1080p and instantly stream Netflix movies. It will be “well under $500”. Netflix members is able to use the provided remote to browse, read synopses, rate movies, make selection right on the TV screen, and fast-forward/rewind video streams. Streaming of Netflix movie will begin as little as 30 seconds.

Warner has announced that they will bring the highly anticipated The Matrix trilogy films on Blu-ray with ‘The Ultimate Matrix Collection’ box set on October 14. The seven-disc set will include the three Matrix films in 1080p VC-1 with Dolby TrueHD soundtrack, ‘The Animatrix’ movie which is in 1080p HD for first time, In-Movie Experience picture-in-picture commentaries for all three films, Digital Copy of the first film ‘The Matrix’ and 35 hours of extras supplement materials.
This is a ‘catch-up’ title for Warner which released the Matrix films on HD DVD in May 2007. Warner released two box sets for the HD DVD version: ‘The Ultimate Matrix Collection’ and ‘The Complete Matrix Trilogy’. Warner has not announced if there will bring ‘The Complete Matrix Trilogy’ set to Blu-ray, which is a lesser set containing only the three Matrix films. There is also no info on whether Warner will release the movies individually on Blu-ray.

We are sure studios have ways to get you to keep buying the same movie again and again, especially for a movie such as ‘Godfather’. Paramount has announced the “The Godfather Collection: The Coppola Restoration” for DVD and Blu-ray on September 23. The collection includes the three original movies completely restored, the process in which is overseen by Francis Ford Coppola himself.
Video is 1080p with audio in Dolby TrueHD, the four-disc set features new bonus material in additional to all materials from the original DVD box set. Each movie comes with Coppola commentary.
